Teaching Philosophy

I believe…..

*that every child is brilliant in their own way, it is up to me as the educator to foster meaningful, diverse learning experiences that celebrate and encourage all learning styles.

*providing diverse assessment strategies will help each child reach their academic goals.

*in educating the whole child by providing a safe environment to learn, inspiring creativity, teaching and modeling compassion and empathy, and creating opportunity for social, emotional, and academic growth.

* in building positive relationships and the collaboration between teacher, student, and families fosters a successful learning experience.

* authentic, student centered, experiential learning environments provide opportunity for students to problem solve and learn from mistakes.

*technology is an important tool in the classroom and enhances learning opportunities.

*reaching out to each individual child without bias by recognizing individual needs, showing appreciation for where each child is in the moment , giving encouragement and providing authentic feedback.

*that learning is not always about the product, but also the process.

*in the importance of Treaty Education as well as placed-based learning.

*that giving students the opportunity to teach and share builds confidence and is an authentic way to show what they know.

*that as a lifelong learner my philosophy will change as I reflect on my practices both personally and professionally.
